https://www.amsnwny604.org
Carmen Davis is a clinical nurse specialist (CNS) for the medical intensive and progressive care units at Indiana University Health, University Hospital. She began her nursing journey as a registered nurse in a step down unit before she transferred to surgical intensive care where she developed her passion for critical care nursing. She continued her education journey and completed a Master’s degree in 2006 as an advanced practice nurse with a concentration in adult health. She has 20 years of nursing experience and has always served as an advocate in quality and safety, not only an engaged direct care nurse, but as a board certified critical care CNS working as change agent to bridge the gap between bedside and best practice to improve patient outcomes. Over the years, Carmen has collaborated with many local and national clinical experts to help identify best practices and procedures related to healthcare acquired infections, nurse sensitive indicators, and complex patient populations. Carmen has served as lead on many quality improvement, evidence based practice, and formal research projects in the areas of infection prevention, alcohol withdrawal, palliative care, and pronation therapy. She has published and presented nationally and locally on these clinical areas of interest. Carmen is also a member of her local and national professional organizations.
